Sure, these glasses are a corporate surveillance state nightmare, but keep in mind, assault shouldn’t be something you consider, unless it’s justifiable.

Most places have law stating the public can be recorded freely by anyone, which is basically why these exist, so the justification needs to actually hold weight, such as being stalked or other reasons.

There’s also the fact that these glasses could be used by disabled individuals who are using them as aids, and quite frankly, assaulting a disabled person, even if you don’t know they’re disabled is a significant aggravating factor in court. You really don’t want that for yourself.

The danger with LLMs isn’t that it “tries to kill you”, it’s because they’re all sycophantic, it isn’t a fully understood technology yet (so safeguards inside the black box will only be known to go so far, with an unknown amount of ways to bypass,) and humanity is generally susceptible to being manipulated to trust LLMs (due to how they sound the same in all topics, and dont have other modes of communication other than text and voice, among other issues.)

What everyone is mainly saying is that OpenAI has a long history of assisting in dozens of deaths, more than other companies like Meta and Anthropic. Despite the fact that there will always be a non-zero chance of bypassing filters, OpenAI has continuously mismanaged creating these filters in the first place.

There’s also the argument by pro AIers who say “well it passed the Turing test, so it’s intelligent!”

What they consistently forget is that the LLMs cheated by being built with the entirety of the internet’s data, with at least some of it being guides on how to complete said Turing test.

Once an AI passes the Turing test without the entirety of the internet’s data being fed to it, then maybe it’s intelligent, who knows.
