Technology@lemmy.world•Valve Announces New Steam Machine, Steam Controller & Steam FrameEnglish
01·8 months agoIt will be priced as it isnt locking you into a ecosystem like meta, so it will be of course a bit more pricey. ( rumors say roughly 1200$ )
Ohh yeah i have an nvidia gpu and for some games i have to switch to an oldeer/newer driver, but thats nvidia
The same with windows tho, you always have to find solutions.
I was on linux mint, kde plasma and another rather odd distro with a window manager. All worked out of the box. But i saw hell let loose with someone with cameras and just the cameras, the rest seemed fine and in working condition.
> Linux
> Everything works out of the box in comparison to dindows ( no driver search, no go to installer page x, no installer page z, no search for updates, everything in one place )
> Gets in all games 10+fps more because of reduced bloat
> Distro hops back and forth with no data or functionality loss and almost 1 click “restoration” of apps etc.Is it just me?
But i can understand if artists really need photoshop they cant do that on linux because adobe explicitly gives no f*ck about any linux compatibility.
I must say if an app doesnt work, mostly its intentionally by the devs, and that sucks. Especially on games with Kernel level spy… i mean anti cheat.
But you will have to worry about your battery. It will depend on usage, “fast” charging etc… but it will not last as a “normal” car does. So you will have to replace it or dump the car. ( most people just dump it as its cheaper to buy new )
You brought up another point: For longer trips charging stations is not easy to find ( definitly not in my region ).
I mean… it depends on your requirements. The charge time is most of the time the dealbreaker, because humans are lazy, with an EV you can not just go “oh i forgot to fuel up, lets go to the next gas station and fill it up in seconds” rather “Oh i forgot to plug in my EV after a long drive, guess i will have to wait some hours”.
But still EVs can take you far and it gotten pretty far in the technology, but i guess the battery still holds personally me off buying one.

01·1 year agoThat isnt even the part it is encrypted, the TPM encryption is either “Automatic” or over a password (any length) on startup so far i know it from my work with Bitlocker (tpm 2.0) on windows 10. Idk if this is different on windows 11.

01·1 year agoThe only phone manufacture that does that is Google with pixel. Any other phone is for my knowledge either “weakly” encrypted or not at all.
Still your Mobile OS isnt just upgrading and encrypting your SD card and main drive. Thats the point.

01·1 year agoI would say GitHub copilot ( that uses a gpt model ) uses more Wh than chatgpt, because it gets blasted more queries on average because the “AI” autocomplete just triggers almost every time you stop typing or on random occasions.

Like, to protect the children UNPROTECT the children by uploading the face to a thirdparty company, so not even directly to discord. I didnt read their TOS or Privacy Policy, but i bet they save the images for “improving” their model and selling it to other AI / ML companies.

Could you post / insert the direct links of the guides to the post / comment? I dont mind tbh, but many people would trust it more if its not shortened links. I know its better to have shortened links in such image guides, but would be cool if you would provide them.

Yeah i got thos feature request multiple times i tried to begin with but it always failed. Wiml have to look further.
