Both. The people in power understand it and are lying to the base so they genuinely dont get it.

True, media conglomeration definitely falls under that late stage capitalism brand of mass surveillance of everyone. I guess to clarify, my “in cahoots” comment was more trying to get at that paranoid delusion that the editor is specifically trying to deceive you because the tormentor is stalking you specifically in that mustache twirling villain way and not as the byproduct of mass surveillance and mass propaganda.
But the AI psychosis is only confirming the suspicions that there is a spying tormentor, but not pointing out the spying tormentor. It’s fueling delusions with incomplete half-accurate information getting people into heightened states of paranoia. There’s just enough correct information that anything can fit into the gaps and it feels like you came up with the solution.
Emailing a columnist your AI driven paranoia is a symptom and precursor to so much worse. What happens when the wrong editor phrases something badly or dismisses the paranoia as just the ramblings of an insane person? Well maybe that editor is in cahoots with the tormentor covering for them in the mind of the paranoid, they’re now a target because they’re helping the tormentor.
The problem is the paranoia is justified, there is a tormentor, its the corporations that created these chatbots, the corporations that are constantly surveiling us, but that’s not where the random violence will be directed.
Exactly, preaching to anyone ever remotely left of the democrats to vote 3rd party is just begging the only tenuous coalition of progressives to split the voter base and hand the conservatives power for decades to come.
We should be in the comment sections of conservative spaces trying to amplify whatever cracks have formed between segments of their voterbase.
What new wars with direct US involvement started under Biden? What new wars happened under Obama, or Clinton? Or any Democrat that started a war in a foreign nation in the last 50 years. I’m not talking selling surplus outdated weapons to another nation, I’m talking boots on the ground, enlisted military going into another nation and fighting in direct conflict.
Every single time it’s been a Republican dragging us into a forever war with no clear objective, and a Democrat that cleans up the mess and finishes the job.
I’m not saying that the dems are a good political party, they’re still a neoliberal organization that cowtows to corporate interests, and they’re spinless when it comes to wielding power to benefit the rest of the population and standing up to Republicans but they’re not the same thing.
Besides the only “viable” candidate for the Green Party is literally photographed rubbing elbows with Russian Oligarchs and Putin and Libertarians unironically want to remove the age of consent so they can have their child brides.

My guess is they’re not a 50/50 binary. Like how in sports betting one team is favored over another to win, maybe its a 45/55 split. So if any given military action has a 5% chance of happening and a 95% chance of non happening, the overall aggregate of bets on this kind of thing should pretty closely mirror that 95/5 split.
