I love this movie so much. It was one of my favorites as a kid, and I’ve been defending it since despite its meme status.
It IS a great movie. I mean come on, the mattress ride, dinosaurs,…it’s got everything!
It doesn’t need to be a award winning masterpiece of cinema to be a enjoyable experience.

It’s definitely worth watching once, though, if you’re into the cultural artifacts of the 90s (late 80s actually?). I wouldn’t say it’s even poorly made. It’s just a fuckin weird movie that has basically nothing to do with Mario Bros. Dennis Hopper as Koopa is an absolutely bonkers role that he puts everything into.
This movie gave me sexy shirtless John Leguizamo, which, looking back, seems significant.
