    Standing at the checkout and they go: I need your number.

    Like, no you don’t, for what?

    “sir, I need to put something in the machine, siir.”

    “Too bad! Just put your finger on the number row and go drrrrrrrrt! That’s my number!”

    “but Sir, we’re not gonna DO anything with it!”

    “REALLY? What, you’re collecting them just for fun??”

    No you ain’t getting it. You know why?

    BECAUSE I KNOW YOU’RE UP TO SOMETHING!!!"

      I work through a nonprofit where we have to report the names and addresses of our visitors to the local government which gives us a grant.

      Their thinking is they want to know how many people that visit the nonprofit are residents and taxpayers of the local municipality.

      Still, it sucks to ask people to give us their name and residential address, even though I tell them this is just for reporting for grants. We don’t mail you anything.

      I don’t think the local government does anything nefarious with this, but they could, I guess.
