Come for the video of a Tesla Robotaxi driving double the speed limit and hitting speed bumps like they are Mario Kart ramps…
… But stay for the conversation about social media silos and corporate disinformation campaigns!
The source is a fake website with the only articles being about criticizing Tesla. I am not a fan of Tesla or Musk, to say the least, but this is no better than X’s propaganda…
Edit: Aren’t you a mod on the SpaceX board? I’m not sure I trust you when you say you’re “not a fan of Tesla or Musk” considering you run a fan club for one of Musk’s companies XD
I’m the automotive equivalent of a muckraker, so yeah, Tesla does enough weird stuff that I talk about them a lot. They’re hardly the ONLY news I cover.
Take this article, for instance, it was on the front page of Hacker News for a couple days, got decent circulation in European automotive magazines, too: https://fuelarc.com/tech/pop-up-ads-in-your-jeep-the-latest-stellantis-innovation/
Believe what you like, but the videos in that article are just videos, it’s not like those aren’t first-hand driving footage just because you dislike where you found them.
Sorry for answering 9 month later. I never checked my inbox until now.
I was just criticizing the choice of the source, not the facts themselves.
And yes I was moderator on the SpaceX sub for a short while. But I got bored quite fast because there wasn’t anything to moderate.
I am passionate about space exploration and SpaceX is at the forefront of it, whether I or others like them or not. That doesn’t mean I like Musk, his political stance, Tesla’s business goals or any of his other more or less stupid companies. I’m against the privatization of space. I think there should be international regulations against launching satellite constellations and clogging the lower orbit without public approval. I’m also worried about the impact of exponential number of reentries of space junk on the upper atmosphere.
I think the individual electric car is a dumb solution to the issues petrol ones are. Cars take to much place in cities. I don’t own a car and never did. I was born in Paris, France, and lived there most of my life. Dense cities where walking and biking and mass transport is dominant is, in my opinion, the best way to go.
I think Elon is a egomaniac with way to much money and power. I think he is dangerous for democracy and the USA as a whole. I think hyper-loop is a half assed idea, bordering a scam. Boring tunnels for electric cars is the worst idea ever.
So no, I’m not a fan of Musk. Quite the opposite in fact. But you can admire the engineering prowess SpaceX have accomplished without supporting anything it’s oligarchic CEO does or say. Being “with them or against them” is a simplistic take on anyone’s opinions. I hope this clears the waters.
That was a pretty real video of it going twice the speed limit and trying to launch them to space over the speed bumps… what’s YOUR agenda?
I don’t have any except, maybe, promoting a less biased, more balanced view on any subject. Be it scientific, technological or political. I sometimes like playing the devils advocate when I think it could feed curiosity and critical thinking.

This you?
Yes. I’ve answered that higher in the comments.
Pretty bold claim. Who can we trust in this scenario? How do we trust you?
I’m just pointing to the fishiness of the source. I am in no way a Tesla fan. I think the individual electric car is a bad solution to air pollution and global warming. Got a bit more into detail higher up in the comments.
Well you can check the site yourself, that ain’t too hard to do
I did, and now I did again. I don’t see/understand any clues to it being a “fake website” after browsing around and looking at various pages and articles. 🤷♂️ Can somebody help me understand? (Besides the condescending “just look at it”, thanks!)
Fake might have been a poor choice of word. I just found it extremely biased and it had very few articles when this one was published. On their footers it reads “FuelArc News is your unbiased source for American automotive news.” When an unbiased view is waived around, I don’t consider it a very good sign toward factuality.
We don’t.
Fair, but you are wrong about me. Explained it in an other answer higher in the comments.
I know you don’t live here so you can just be relaxed and ummm acckktually from behind your keyboard. But please understand that real humans live on the streets that this dangerous machine is careening through, and it’s only a matter of time before it kills someone. Intentional acts of violence must be stopped immediately, and they don’t need a devil’s advocate. Please watch any of the footage from the last 3 days of operation, it’s very straightforward and clear to any observer just how fucked up and dangerous these machines are.
I live in France and am glad autonomous vehicles are not allowed here. I wish Americans where as protected from private company abuse as we are here. But I stand by the fact that the source does not look trustworthy.
