How could you enforce that? Just get a VPN outside the country.
I think the idea is that any VPN that doesn’t comply gets IP blocked. But that’s obviously a cat and mouse game since VPN services are a dime a dozen and you can always rent a VPS and tunnel to a respectable VPN through it.
That is probably true but the average person won’t be able to get past the stage finding a non-IP-blocked VPN.
Not necessarily, sure the average person will have a much harder time, but inevitably, word of mouth networks form and people quickly share which VPN isn’t currently caught by the blocks. That’s how it is in mainland China, and they have very strict DPI going on so the word of mouth workarounds are like “use this shadowsocks provider” etc
This is the “good option” electorally too. Yay, labour won, we won! Then they lock down the internet, put Thiel that wants to spray the political opposition and critics with fentanyl with drones is brought in to give you secret social scores based on all of your activity they have identified you with.
As if it will stop there. Then they cancel jury trials for up to 3 years in prison. Create a masterbaitorbase. Now track vpn’s, enough already, throw these bums out, they are doing more damage than the fucking tories did, and are throwing the country to the far right. Get a real leader, not the handpicked sucessor with the reasonable sounding voice that is mandelson’s protege that like starmer made his career on purging labor of the left and popular reform by kicking people out for criticizing Israel and other demonstratable fabricated lies.

Sounds like a great deterrent/ enforcement system to me.
Their legal system is rather famously aristocratic, snobby, and contemptuous of working people too. They are all the epitomy of the Old Boy Network, they follow the leader so they don’t get kicked out of the club too. So their choosing a magistrate to send people to prison for up to three years on their own accord is unthinkable, and unacceptable in this context.
Seriously it’s won’t end with 3 years either, they will continue to sabotage the workings of the courts, dragging out cases, then again say look accused rapists haven’t been tried after years of waiting, so clearly the only option is to cancel our freedoms and surrender it to the oligarchy. Same basic strategy of thatcherism and Reaganism, sabotaging something and using the excuse to privatize it or cut it further, saying public options don’t work when it worked until they made sure it didn’t.
Before long whole categories of crimes will be removed to magistrates, and I’m betting protesters now being charged with serious crimes for protests that are disfavored, seperate from the fake terror designations this happened before, people being charged with over ten years in prison, will be removed from jury trials if they get more acquittals.
They did get a bunch of acquittals, and the judges/legal system disallowed the defenses they were using in court, saying why they protested, ie climate protesters, environmental, which is the other force behind this other than Israel, it’s to protect oil and other polluters from protest and scrutiny.
So after they disallowed they got more convictions, and these buttoned up do gooder middle class britons have to throw themselves at the mercy of these judges that were chosen to have contempt for them, that would have them executed if they could, rather than being not guilty if the legal system wasn’t rigged for the prosecution.
