plugged into the ancient tree of life, no less.
Likely running Debian Woody
I love when this series randomly pops up on my feed
Thanks! I felt it was time, with easter around the corner
On the other hand, opening a browser makes my ThinkPad overheat and shut down. Yes, the fan controller is dead.
that’s a sign not to use a browser!
Goddamn. Closed down due to a patent troll. Why cant we have nice things…
I suspect it might very quickly get very messy, given it’s a laptop :D
When was the last time you repasted it?
The fan controller on the motherboard is dead (the fan itself works, it just never gets the signal to turn on). A minute of sustained 100% load is enough to get it over 100C. I have a replacement motherboard somewhere, but I moved last year and it’s still in a box.
switch to something less bloated, like netsurf or mothra
I usually downclock it to 800 MHz, launch the browser (takes like 2 minutes with an ssd and 8GB RAM) and then I can let it go back up to 1.83GHz (core 2 duo) as long as I don’t open any page too big.
Not my main laptop anymore, mostly keeping it for sentimental reasons.
w3m is the way.
Something-something bow to me and all these kingdoms would be yours?
Yeah!
That brick has >3 ports
and a BIOS that does nothing but boot the disk
Japanese Jesus is back <3
Stay prayed up!
Macbook. Yuk.
Those M5s are pretty speedy, though. And MacOS is no Linux, but at least it isn’t Windows.
