    Award-winning Indian writer Arundhati Roy withdrew from the festival after the jury president, German director Wim Wenders, said cinema should “stay out of politics” when asked about Gaza.

    cinema should stay out of politics… ironic as they try to use their positions in the industry to make a political statement.

      That Wenders quote is incredibly stupid. It’s like saying literature or painting should stay out of politics.

    If Germany is complicit what is Syria then? Easy to protest in free countries, but I don’t see any friend of Gaza around the Middle East.
