They snuck in DoW as a secondary name which didn’t need approval. The official name on contracts is still DoD or I guess if the person wanted they could replace Defense with War but it’s all just a waste of time.
They are officially still the DOD. The name change has never been officially approved despite Hegseth choosing to identify with a different pronoun.
They can’t keep things straight. Got an ad recently for military service that was “Paid for by the Department of War.” Plus, it makes the war sound better if it’s fought for “defense.” Whatever aims to make them sound better at any given time.
