Nearly every nation has immigration control in some way, often with a dedicated service. The current administration has modified and abused an agency that already existed to give their “SS” false legitimacy.

Thanks for the link, but I actually do understand how pools and algae growth functions. I’m a biochemist (or, at least I was), and have been taking care of pools off and on most of my life.
It would be a fuck ton more difficult to manage a pool with tidal water as a source compared to potable water. Its not the only reason the pool has grown more algae, and its still ultimately due to mismanagement during the Trump administration (i.e. not monitoring/managing the algae level and water source). However, ignoring how the switch to tidal water effected the number and frequency of algae blooms is disingenuous.
Are we doing a “blame the right for everything and not attempt to be honest” thing because that is their go-to? I mean, I’m down I guess at this point, but can I get a wink or something when we are doing it?
Anyway, here is an article discussing it: https://cen.acs.org/environment/water/why-the-reflecting-pool-turns-green/104/web/2026/06

I mean, I agree. The changes during the PBA administration made sense and were better for the environment and Washington DC people.

Which part is allegedly?

I mean, I honestly don’t like Trump. That said, the pool was originally drinking water, and an Obama era revamp switched it to filtered tidal water. The water that fills it now has way more organic molecules, even with the filtering, leading to algae blooms. The blooms can’t really be treated with standard algaecide due to its effect on wild life.
Trump made the situation worse by painting the bottom of the pool. But the reason is was good for decades prior was due to being drinking water, which has far less capability to host life.
Because at one point in US history hunting black people was an accepted institutional practice. While their are scenarios where it occured with other groups, the implied threat is a return to slavery like conditions for “democrats.”
But if it makes you feel better, I’m sure racist white people will try to reintegrate those other groups as less than human too.
It’s because different states are allowed to teach different truths to children. So now we have citizens that believe completely different facts. Because facts are no longer universal, perception of reality is fundamentally warped between groups.
“Without subsidies, it is cheaper to make long-lasting bioplastics from plant matter than to raise a cow and kill it for its skin. The fashion industry makes clothes that decay in order to sell more clothes, and the meat industry artificially lowers the price of leather.”
This post is why we can’t have nice things.
Also, is this true? This feels like one of those statements made with confidence that may also not be true. I know bioplastics still have issues with regard to synthesis that does have environmental impact and does not breakdown after synthesis. Also, corn is also heavily subsidized. It’s kind of difficult to take this comment at face value given the unnecessarily personalized debate strategy you utilized.
As you said, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) was officially established in March 2003. The agency was created following the passage of the Homeland Security Act of 2002. It was created from merging prior organizations such as US customs.
If you don’t understand how difficult it would be for a president to undo such a sweeping change to government structure with limited congressional support, then you don’t understand how the US government works, and this conversation is futile. The literal reason Trump us using ICE is because he can’t make a new organization, so is utilizing one that already existed.
I didn’t like Obama’s presidency, so I don’t know what bringing him up means to you, but the new issue don’t under trump was the purposeful separation of children from their parents, and separate deportations to keep them separate as a means of punishment.
Honestly, what even is your point? That people were ok with it previously? Many weren’t. That is hasn’t gotten dramatically worse under Trump/Republicans? If so, fuck right on off.
