You can’t install tailscale because Roku is a closed device, so your best remaining options are:
Tailscale was suggested above as an easier alternative to setting up a reverse proxy. If tailscale isn’t a good option, then I would push forward with getting a reverse proxy setup.
I’m willing to work past a lot of shortcomings when the alternative is $750. Plus anything learning how to overcome those shortcomings will have benefits beyond just setting up jellyfin.

OpenAI is failing to monetize their model, is falling behind on Claude on benchmarks, can’t compete with Google on pricing/costs, is struggling to retain talent, and people don’t trust Sam Altman.
Unless something major changes, it really seems like we’ve passed the peak of OpenAI’s trajectory and it’ll be mostly downhill from here.
Cachy is growing in popularity a lot. Negative publicity around Ubuntu is driving people to alternatives, and I’ve heard a lot of people are trying cachy as their first Linux distro.
I read this on hacker news awhile back, and enjoyed it quite a bit. The unrelated trivia part about USB keyboards needing at least 103 keys or they’re just a keypad especially stuck with me, and has been cited in discussions of a certain meme:
My main point was that even if Plex is the best solution, the $750 lifetime fee was enough for me to put up with some inconveniences of Jellyfin even if it wasn’t as easy.
Not saying Jellyfin is better than Plex, but Plex has to be a lot better for the price increase to be justified.
