I’m surprised he lives like that if he owns Netflix. Props for staying humble I guess.

News@lemmy.world•AOC vows to block future US military aid to Israel, its Iron Dome and defense
212·1 day agoWhich one of these you linked is providing funding to Israel?
In order:
H.R.5917
This bill extends the authority of the President to impose sanctions on foreign persons using human shields through 2030 and requires the President to impose such sanctions on each foreign person determined to be a member of Palestine Islamic Jihad and orders, controls, or otherwise directs the use of human shields. Currently, such sanctions are (1) required for users of human shields who are members of Hamas or Hezbollah or supporters of those groups, and (2) authorized for other users of human shields.
The President must also determine if a person named in certain congressional requests meets the criteria for such sanctions and report on whether the President intends to impose sanctions on that person.
Additionally, the Department of Defense must report to Congress on the implications of the use of human shields by Hamas, Hezbollah, and Palestine Islamic Jihad.
H.R.5961
This bill requires the President to impose property-blocking sanctions on foreign financial institutions and international financial institutions that process, participate in, or facilitate a transaction involving certain Iranian funds (namely, the approximately $6 billion of Iranian funds that the Biden administration permitted to be transferred from restricted accounts in South Korea to restricted accounts in Qatar to facilitate the release of five U.S. citizens detained in Iran).
H.R.6679
This bill imposes immigration-related penalties on certain non-U.S. nationals (aliens under federal law) who are involved with terrorism or attacks against Israel.
Under this bill, members of Palestinian Islamic Jihad or Hamas or who participated in or otherwise facilitated the October 7, 2023, attacks on Israel may not be admitted into the United States.
The bill also expands an existing admissions bar against officers, representatives, and spokespersons of the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO). Under this bill, all PLO members are barred from admission into the United States.
The bill also prohibits any non-U.S. national who participated in or otherwise facilitated the October 7, 2023, attacks from seeking any immigration-related relief or protections, including (1) protection from being deported to a country where the individual’s life or freedom would be threatened, or (2) asylum in the United States.

3·5 days agoWhat in the actual fuck. I just spent over an hour reading posts on there. The my life as an Epstein girl is one that really stuck out to me. Like these people are obviously batshit insane. I couldn’t even begin to recall half as many specific details about my own life as these folks are throwing around in bouts of insanity. What causes something like this? Sounds exhausting but they certainly believe what they are talking about, I think? I suppose people night put in a ton of effort LARPing but idk. I’m not sure what I think about all this stuff. I don’t think I’ve ever read anything like this before.

73·7 days agoYou said they had the house, senate, AND presidency for 4+ years. The house yes, presidency yes, senate no. Nothing becomes law without the senate. Your claim was not accurate.

57·7 days agoWere you not following the back and forth fight that went on back then for him to try to get anything through? Yeah it’s shit but it’s a lot better than the nothing there was. It was progress and if this country had actual adults in it instead of a bunch of emotional children and corrupt politicians then things could continue to progress.

“Did President Obama have “total control” of Congress? Yes, for 4 entire months. And it was during that very small time window that Obamacare was passed in the Senate with 60 all-Democratic votes.”

3·21 days agoThank you! That is exactly the kind of stuff we have worked on, post it’s in his pocket specifically have helped a lot. They were trying to force things at the school that was counter productive for him, like docking him points if he didn’t write all his assignments down in a daily planner and other nonsense that did nothing other than increase his mental load and anxiety. Fortunately he’s really been able to start turning a corner as we’ve worked on coping skills over the years and he knows I’m willing to go to bat for him when the school tries pushing things that make things more challenging for him. It’s like they want a school of little compliant robots rather than taking the time to get to know how the individual kids can be successful. I also realize a lot of that is due to under funding, lack of resources, and checkboxes for federal funding so I don’t blame anyone but all I can do is vote and advocate for my kids.

7·21 days agoI’m dealing with this exact situation with my oldest son who has ADHD. He scores great on tests and most assignments but the 0’s kill him. Now that he’s a freshman they are being even more strict about the busy work. He’s getting better but still at risk of not getting credit for one class this year because of a terrible first quarter that he’s having trouble clawing out of even after having a B and A in the following quarters. It was really hard getting him to turn things in regularly and it has nothing to do with him knowing the material, they just give so much damn work outside of school that it overwhelms him and I feel like nobody actually gives a shit about how different his brain works. It’s not like he doesn’t care, the way they deal with it doesn’t accomplish anything besides making him feel worthless and then I have to put in extra duty to combat that along with helping him be successful in ways that work for him. This ignorant meme or tweet or whatever was triggering for me and I was so happy to see your comment as one of the first ones ❤️
I have five machines, one headless, the other four on KVM, 2 Linux 2 windows. Mainly only use the one windows for work bs that I never want to touch my personal space. I spend most my time on my Linux machine and just use rustdesk though. Having three monitors helps because one is pretty much dedicated to rustdesk.

I wouldn’t support the death penalty regardless but I also wouldn’t be swayed at all about anything if someone told me with a straight face “now consider this person doesn’t have a prior criminal history before murdering someone.” He went straight to murder isn’t the flex his lawyer thought it was.
