That’s it. In that case, screw Arch. I’m going with Gentoo.
But still the sunken stars appear
In dark and windless Mirrormere;
There lies his crown in water deep,
Till Durin wakes again from sleep.

3·6 days agoI really wish I had the guts to dance. I’m afraid of dancing. I don’t like dancing. I wish I liked dancing. I wish I could connect with people through dancing. Jeesh dancing is such an anxiety inducing topic to me… Wai… :(
I did some research. Is this an apt representation of what I can expect? If it is, I’m in!

Depends. How many virigns in heaven do I get?

1·7 days agoI don’t know which network manager Ubuntu uses, so I’m not sure whether this applies to you. I’m using Arch with the network manager
systemd-networkd. I set it up manually from the CLI by creating a so called.networkfile in the/etc/systemd/network/folder.To “setup” and start using
systemd-networkd, dosudo systemctl enable --now systemd-networkd.service. You will probably also need to setupsystemd-resolvedwithsudo systemctl enable --now systemd-resolved.servicebecause some services and/or programs need this for domain name resolution. Then, check out point 3.5 on this page in the Arch Wiki: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Systemd-networkd
Use the section that applies to your setup depending on whether you are wired, wireless or both.
This of course assumes that Ubuntu doesn’t use another network manager.

No kidding. In our case, their hands are even more tied, since we are required by law to outsource it to the cheapest possible provider. I’m just disappointed that my country and agency are so poorly informed on how much cheaper and self reliant using open source solutions such as WireGuard and Linux would be.

13·11 days agoI just do the typical
sh -c "$(sudo find / -name 'mkdir' | grep -o 'mkdir' | head -n 1) '$(echo newDir)'"but to each their own I guess.
And then the IT department announced that they are finally replacing our obscure, archaic “VPN solution”. I asked, “you are building the new solution on top off WireGuard, right? 😊”
IT: … … 😊
Me: … … 🥲
They ended up BUYING ANOTHER “VPN SOLUTION” INSTEAD 😭
https://libreboot.org/docs/install/t480.html
It’s a significant improvement to me that it’s open source and that - according to the above description - Intel ME is indeed removed.
Have you flashed Libreboot on a T480, then taken a dump of the chip and confirmed that Intel code is still on there?
I also don’t understand why I would need grub when I use systemd’s bootloader. I only want to replace the BIOS.
I have prepared the images to be flashed💾, an EEPROM programmer (Raspberry Pi Pico H)✏️ and configured my Lenovo Thinkpad T480’s BIOS settings to receive the flash💻. Now I’m just waiting for the test clip to arrive in the mail. ETA tomorrow. Libreboot, here we go.

Well, if channeling negative energy through dance is a thing, then maybe I could give it another try. But I feel silly and embarrassed just by imagining it. :(
