I read something decades ago that still rings true to this day.
Internet + Anonymity = Fuckwad

Thats what I like about Lemmy. People admit they were wrong and move on. This kind of exchange would never occur on Reddit.
I apologize if I came off aggressive. I was not fully caffeinated and was still half asleep.

I’ve only been in my field for about 14 years now. I’m afraid it isn’t the right time to look, so I’m holding on to my job for the life of me.

There’s quite literally a community called WorldNews. This didn’t fit there.

I have a friend in Edinburgh who has been out of work since last June. He is getting desperate.

Good thing I put mine in airplane mode when I first got it and never updated firmware. I load books like its a flash drive.

Agreed. The promise of AI when I was younger (80s 90s) was it would do all the jobs no one wanted and we as humans could focus on arts, entertainment, and leisure. Somehow along the way those got crossed.

I tried to tell my elderly family members this would happen. He isn’t going to honor a promise to not touch it. If he is talking about it on tje campaign trail, he is planning on getting it.

When I was in high school they still delivered newspapers to machines near bus stops. Sometimes I would drop a quarter in to get one so I had something to read on the bus. It was mostly for comics, sports, and current events. When I was done I would leave it on the bus or drop it off in the hallway at school.
Gone are those days.
I opted for a bidet “wand” years ago. I found many bidets didn’t fit well on the toilets I had, or didn’t actually get me any cleaner than toilet paper would. The wand improves accuracy and cleanliness tenfold. Highly recommend if you want something that requires you to sit in a specific position to see the benefits of a bidet.

I am re-watching this and just got to the Russ introduction. Such a tool
The word slop has become overused to the point that I am not sure what slop is anymore.

As someone who designs and builds networks as a profession, I don’t see this being a great idea. Maybe I just don’t have all the facts.
I am leaning heavily on the example of M$ trying an underwater datacenter, which they decommissioned and have not pursued further. Put a node of compute somewhere and eventually it will become obsolete or unusable due to hardware failure. Not to mention the energy requirements and cooling needed in space. Waste heat does not just dissipate unless it has a heat sink, which adds more volume and mass to the payload!
Case in point
