And you thought exiting vim was hard. Honestly, I did not know this existed, thanks.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Are there any other display servers aside from Wayland and X11 with its forks?English
19·3 days agoThere is pheonix, and it is written fully in zig. I think it is a X11 protocol built from scratch, but will include modern features like HDR and VRR. It will also become compatible with Wayland apps along the way. I do not know the status, and I did not do much research on it.
Good luck with it. You will learn a lot. Also there is no such thing as a Wayland wm, but rather a Wayland compositor, and that is a distinct difference between X11 and Wayland.
osdev is the way, https://wiki.osdev.org/Expanded_Main_Page. I am also following this, so I do not need to build a cross compiler, https://arjunsreedharan.org/post/82710718100/kernels-101-lets-write-a-kernel. I am writing a 64 bit kernel, so I am going to use limine as the bootloader.
I learning about kernels by writing my own.
Tbh, I am not sure if he is human the more I see his content.

Obviously it will be opt in I think, but there is definetly a concern of a slippery slope.

1·5 days agoThat sounds like Ubuntu in the future to me.
Same thing except, he owns a sub linuxsucks101. Madthumbs goes there to post dumb ai images and ai essays. He also goes once in a while to r/linuxmemes and r/linuxsucks to post more ai garbage. Funnily enough there is a sub, linuxsucks101sucks.
I just switched from reddit to Lemmy, and I did not know madthumbs is here. Does bleak21 exist here as well?

I own my Operating System.
Yeah, I will be putting it in my pocket.
This is me. Problem is that every person I encounter is like “Wow, I did not know windows does all these bad things… Anyways”
Technically speaking, GrapheneOS does use the Linux kernel. Because that, I think GrapheneOS is a Linux distro in my book.

I totally agree. Install xorg and wm, and boop startx. I couldn’t wrap my head around the idea of a wayland compositor, and it is still troubling me. When I do have a Wayland compositor set up, it definetly feels like a cleaner setup. I do not hate Wayland, but consider it different.
