There’s a lot of denial where I live too. The very popular conservative right-wing party has gone from comically absurd denial to “sure, it’s real, but it’s not that bad, and in any case the important thing is to not waste any money so we must think long and hard about what to do about it” (meaning they will do nothing and defend it as being “financially healthy politics” or some bullshit like that).
Many other politicians (center/left) seem to have shifted their talking points from “we must do something about it” to “we must adapt to the climate changes” (in other words, between the lines they say “there’s nothing we can do about it, except learn to live with it”). Only the green party still tries, but they’re not very big.
