I’m new to the fediverse and still learning how things work here. I apologize if I break the rules or etiquette of communities and instances. Please don’t assume malice or disregard, I’ll try my best to be respectful but there’s like a lot to learn and keep track of.

I like Emacs, GNU, free knowledge (free as in freedom), Lisp/Scheme programming, and software (and hardware, and everything) that is designed for autonomy, licenses aren’t enough. I’m ditching Linux as soon as Hurd becomes viable as a daily driver.

  • Hey, not trying to agree or disagree with you, I genuinely don’t know who this person is and have absolutely no stakes in this fight. But I think you touched on something interesting and I’d like to offer some food for thought, not as a good thing that should be accepted, just something to take into consideration.

I grew up worshipping Lady Gaga, she was a huge factor for me coming out of the closet. Like she was a crucial part of my history because she did the “love the gays” thing around the same time I realized I was gay. Like this may sound stupid and probably is, but I genuinely felt deep affection, admiration and gratitude for her.

Then I found out she might be a zionist. The only source I found was Israeli propaganda, but she never denied it or addressed the genocide in any way. By that time I wasn’t even paying attention to her or listening to her songs, she was basically a fond memory to me, and it still devastated me.

It took me months to realize that I didn’t give a single fuck about the majority of the MCU cast (and hollywood, and most of everything that comes from the US) being full of confirmed zionists and zionist propaganda and I was still watching it, because I never cared about those people the way I cared about Lady Gaga.

You may call this hypocrisy and you’re probably right, but what I’m trying to say is people aren’t always rational enough to notice it. I still feel deeply hurt by Lady Gaga’s silence, even as an adult who’s well aware of how pathetic it makes me. My parassocial bond with her was formed when I was a vulnerable teenager going through a lot of bullshit and I didn’t have anything better to get attached to and draw hope from. So even now I still feel a lot more disappointed about her silence than others’ vocal support for genocide, even knowing it makes no sense. Because I never gave a fuck about them, so there’s no parassocial feeling of betrayal or disappointment.

Idk, there’s that saying about not bringing flowers all the time and as much as I hate it, it may be on to something. At this point I’m convinced most popular sayings have at least some tiny truth behind them. Again, not defending any of this, just saying it’s a real factor and shouldn’t be too surprising when you see it.

  • Bro stop, it’s literally my career because it was the only thing that felt easy to me (I tried a bunch of stuff before), like it’s a lot easier and cheaper to learn on your own than most crafts and imo it should be even easier. I don’t take this as offense, I take it as a compliment that we are one of the few careers where people still have enough power over their tools to genuinely improve them and enough solidarity to put in the effort of making it more and more accessible to others, be it by making simpler tools, or writing tutorials and guides for free, or taking the time to answer even the noobiest questions. I want to see more and more comments like this.

I already said that, can’t you read? You’re defending violence against real people. It may be just a joke to you but for me it’s my childhood friends, literal children. I get that getting people mad is a sign of victory for people like you, but grow the fuck up, your dishonesty and malice are blatant. Yes, you got me mad by making monstrous remarks about a situation that affects real people, with real and often lethal consequences. If that’s fun to you, that’s your problem. But don’t think for one second I feel embarrassed for getting mad here, I would be embarrassed to be the type of person who doesn’t get mad at this.

And if those angry cops go to a poor area for payback, why should the privileged kids stop?

This is what you said. You’re just dishonest. There’s no way you actually believe the very people getting murdered by cops respect them. And here you imply the cops do it because they’re mad at the privileged kids. The people who are the worst victims of police brutality live under enough oppression to have to stay silent for their lives. To imply they “respect” cops is dishonesty, there’s no way you believe that, and you definitely meant the cruelty. I’m really thankful to the privileged kids who use their privilege to speak about it because I only speak about it when I’m anonymous, because I literally fear for my safety. And to answer your question, the privileged kids absolutely shouldn’t stop.

So you think if the mean privileged kids weren’t bullying the poor little cops they wouldn’t be brutalizing poor people when that’s literally the point of their existence? Pathetic, dishonest, have the life you deserve.

  • Not a boomer but I follow a thirst trap guy on youtube who I was always sure was AI (like fully artificial, not based on a real person), but then he posted a really messy video (like imperfect skin, not fully shredded, awful lighting, messy room that didn’t look glamorous) and now I’m no longer sure, like there’s a chance it’s a real guy recording himself then asking AI to make him look flawless. Which means I may have been thirsting over a human all this time, ugh.

The point is I knew AI could improve real videos or generate realistic videos from scratch, but I assumed it was still easy to tell one from the other. Well, turns out either AI is now able to generate messy videos from scratch (that truly look low quality/effort) or it’s able to make real videos look like they were made from scratch. So I genuinely don’t trust myself to distinguish what’s AI anymore. And I’m around 30, so I don’t even have the age excuse.
