there really should be somekind of limitation on how much you can abuse the veto system. or at least some reprecussions.
Imagine if finland started to veto any and every decision? I bet at some point finland would get some serious problems for doing so, so why does hungary get special treatment?
But any system that allows bypassing or starts to have repercussions if they vote “wrong” can quickly and easily be used for other things by bad actors.
that is why it should be up to democratic vote if such system should be used.
or there could be certain amount you get, so countries would want to think more carefully what to block. like, you can have certain amount per year and if you need more, you could request more but then it would be up to others if you get it.
but then again, if hungary is pretty much the only country causing trouble with this, then there is no point in such system but instead it should be considered if hungary should be in eu in the first place. Hopefully things improve there so such thoughts could be put to rest.
Orban is up for election in a month and his poll numbers are pretty shit. Best course of action right now is just to wait for him to lose power. If they start attacking him in any meaningful way, it might produce a rally-round-the-flag effect and boost his poll numbers.
