    So was Baroque music. The invention of animal less instruments was what started the classical revolution, after all.

      Ironically, classical and baroque string players are the most likely to use catgut strings nowadays. So uh, the genre may be animal less, but not animal free

        I think if someone told me they used real cat gut I would shun them and tell everyone I know they’re a piece of shit.

          oh, don’t worry, catgut ≠ cat gut. It’s actually made from sheep or goat (and sometimes cattle, hog, horse, mule or donkey) intestines so it’s totally socially acceptable.
