This is fun and I heard a similar story about bat houses around here.

I looked it up though and unfortunately that little beetle is only native to California. Elderberries rule though.

With this administration the only thing that would happen is that the aforementioned species would be dropped from federal protection.

They ain’t gonna jail the company, they will just rip it down and laugh as they pay the fine

you wouldnt want to plant things that arnt native to an area, even if its the same country. it can become locally invasive.

Plant some fucking kudzu around existing ones

As an alternative, choke the HELL out of the construction sites with nasty and impossible to control invasive species. Bamboo, for example, or if you want to be really nasty giant hogweed. Kudzu is another good one.

These kinds of plants will clog waterworks, some bamboo can grow through concrete, and hogweed … well, getting rid of it requires skilled exterminators working over multiple years. And once all that’s done, a few seed bombs starts it all over again.

(Don’t do the hogweed unless you really hate people, though.)
