Having dealt with college interns when I was at work, you don’t have to be all that privileged to be clueless. I worked for the army, we were at war with Iran and Afghanistan and Iraq at the time. The interns didn’t know where either country was, nor did they care.
These weren’t kids from rich families. Mostly they were straight off the farm.
The ability to be willfully ignorant is itself a privilege. Being a dog of the Imperialist military, to take up the gun in service of imperial oppression abroad in exchange for financial stability or social opportunity, is itself a privileged position.
