My ex was one of those. Believe me, it’s not all it’s cracked up to be. But the sex was great!

Edit: Whoops looks like my joke offended a few of you. I guess it was the one user who took the time to look up one comment I made weeks ago that really shows how obsessed some can get. Creepy. Enjoy reading my history and try not to keep me in your thoughts for too long.

That’s not what was presented to the Supreme Court. This wasn’t a ban on kids being transgender or having anything medically done outside of their household. It’s about hiding it from their parents. And the people crying foul about bad parents out there should probably take another look at eugenics then if they don’t like what some parents are doing.

Idk man, it sounds like you probably weren’t their type.

I think the fact that it’s the very first thing she said that’s is the issue. People who are constantly “on” are not fun to be around long term.

It’s okay if you’ve never been in a relationship. Maybe one day when you grow up you might feel something physical instead of just your hand and an AI GFE.

Bro, you should have clarified instead of attacking.

I took your statement to mean that your ex was one of those people where everything they say is centered around some cause, which can definitely be exhausting.

People took it to mean that you were annoyed that your ex supported things like the humane treatment of immigrants.

I don’t see how she’s crazy. She’s right. How are you going to accept a giant copper statue, place it at what was considered at the time to be the entrance to our country, which all immagrants would see, and then put a plaque on it that says:

“Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!” cries she With silent lips. “Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

How are you going to do all that, then kill the inhabitants of this land, and then call Mexicans (which owned like 1/3rd of the land now called America) illegal?

Sure, but borderless doesn’t mean lawless. I’m a world with no borders you’d have no immigration. But you’d still have laws applied when people are born, which is effectively the same thing. Giving them an ID. Making sure they’re getting their education and vaccines. Etc.

And if you somehow avoided doing those things, that’s breaking the law and you’d be illegally outside the system.

Yeah. I don’t agree with that. I think it’s quite reasonable that the country that now exists can have laws governing intake of people.

                What other options are there?

I get the vibe. But give me one reasonable alternative.

Edit: I see nine down votes, one insult, and one option that only is reasonable if the resulting country would rely on the US for defense. Which is to say, there’s no reasonable option behind this cool catch phrase. It’s just a cool catch phrase. And I get down voting because I’m insulting. Your cool catchphrase. But we’re not going to get anywhere if we’re working off vibes.

Better countries have proven they do not need to be the way they are. The EU Shengen area let the policies of the era of empires and kingdoms fall away while preseving a countries identity. The current US system can be described as “cruel by design” and needs to be removed and its facilitators barred from civil service.

Legality is not equivalent to morality. Someone can be in a country illegally even though they should be allowed to be there.

Given the number of times the, er, woke side of things gets blamed for terminology, I think it communicates the sentiment perfectly. When we try using very specific terms like white privilege or toxic masculinity , a great many people obtusely (intentionally in many cases I think) find those terms confusing or assume they mean something different than they do.

You hear “no one is illegal on stolen land” and you know exactly what they are trying to say. Anything more complicated would be too long or end up trying to be specific in a way that would confuse things, IMO.

Right? I mean there’s a difference between living in a country ‘illegally’ and just occupying someone’s home illegally. I have a gf who’s American and I live in Canada. If she just moved in with us and stayed here, she’d be more than welcome in our home and accepted. But according to Canada, she’d be here ‘illegally’.

On what grounds is she not allowed to live with us, who do live here legally, who do own a home here. Who are legal citizens? She isn’t occupying our house. She isn’t invading us. She’s just… Living here. It’s so fucking stupid.

I don’t understand the “stolen land” idea - The colonists were simply the latest conquerors (and some bough land from the locals, like NYC, so that’s safe to live, I guess?), because certain tribes were hella conquerors.

I own a 14 acre property. If someone just came and pitched a tent and build a cabin in the corner of one of my hay fields… By your logic they’re just what exactly? It’s my land. I own it. What makes you think you can just claim it.

On a scale of one to ten, how much do you not understand how indigenous people lost their land?

Just asking because “lol owning land”. Because my comment was completely soaked in how colonizers took over the indigenous peoples’ land. The fact that point went straight over your head says a lot.

I think that kisses having magic powers is just something of a general theme for stories at the time and place that the Brothers Grimm were collecting folklore, not something gender-specific.

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleeping_Beauty

“Sleeping Beauty” (French: La Belle au bois dormant, or The Beauty Sleeping in the Wood;[1][a] German: Dornröschen, or Little Briar Rose, Italian: La Bella Addormentata), also titled in English as The Sleeping Beauty in the Woods, is a fairy tale about a princess cursed by an evil fairy to sleep for a hundred years before being awakened by a handsome prince.

The version collected and printed by the Brothers Grimm was one orally transmitted from the Perrault version,[10] while including its own attributes like the thorny rose hedge and the curse.[11]

      There, it’s a prince’s kiss that breaks a curse.

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Frog_Prince

“The Frog Prince; or, Iron Henry” (German: Der Froschkönig oder der eiserne Heinrich, literally “The Frog King or the Iron Henry”) is a German fairy tale collected by the Brothers Grimm and published in 1812 in Grimm’s Fairy Tales (KHM 1).

      There, it’s a princess’ kiss.

EDIT: Though I suppose one could take issue with the disproportionate-to-population level of royalty involved in doing all this kissing.

EDIT2: You know, oddly enough, I’m racking my brain and I can’t think of present-day legends and stories where kisses do magical or supernatural things. There are some characters I can think of where a kiss might have some incidental effect — I’m pretty sure that I vaguely remember there being some Marvel Comics X-Men story where Rogue kisses her boyfriend and puts him in a coma, as an incidental effect of skin-on-skin contact. There are some kiss-adjacent things, like vampire stories where a kiss segues into a bite on the neck. But magical kissing seems to be out-of-vogue today.
