Before I learned that they were religious wackadoos, one showed up near me (Chicago area) and I figured I’d give it a try. It was the blandest chicken sandwich I’ve ever had, and the waffle fries suuuuucked. Dune time later I figured I’d give them a second chance and ordered their spicy chicken sandwich. Still bland AF, still bad fries. I’ve had a society chicken sandwich from Burger King, and seriously, how the fuck do you screw up waffle fries? So I wrote them off as total trash and never went back. Then I learned that they were owned by Christian fundamentalist assholes, giving me a second reason to hate them.
I’ll say the same thing I said when 5 Guys (burgers are fine, not a fan of the peanut oil fries) - if you want to move into the Chicago area you need to do better than whatever’s been working for you everywhere else. I’m honestly surprised that either of them maintains a foothold here. Funny thing is the 5 Guys has all these framed copies of reviews from all over the country, not one of which was from Chicago or even Illinois lol. At least 5 Guys isn’t run by assholes (as far as I know).
