What makes Vance super creepy (other than his general disposition), is that Peter Thiel created a super PAC in March 2021 to donate $10 million to Vance’s Senate campaign, essentially turning Vance from a political nobody into a US Senator that was entirely beholden to Thiel.
Vance is like Lindsey Graham, willing to do anything to retain proximity to power, which is why his face/heel turn regarding Trump, but Vance is totally Thiel’s bitch, and will do Thiel’s bidding if ever he becomes POTUS.
We may be saved because he isn’t charismatic at all even among most Republicans, and is unlikely to retain the same grip on Congress that Trump does, should it ever happen.
Thiel needs the Luigi treatment ASAP.

That came out and was controversial in the first year of Obama’s term. Republicans held it against him since Saddam Hussein was still fairly fresh news, and everyone else saw it as a sign that the US constituency might actually be lightening up and becoming tolerant.
We believed it at the time, even as Mitch McConnell and the Republican campaign machine were quietly plotting to block his every move and assure he was only a one-term president. They were really sore that a black man dare run as president and win.

I’m not sure what you’re asking. I’m pretty sure Obama’s middle name corresponding to Saddam Hussein is a coincidence. But it was held against him by Republicans once Obama became a major political figure in the Democratic party.
I certainly did not fall for the propaganda as an American myself. As far as I know, most people didn’t, and people who didn’t like Obama for trivial reasons such as racism already didn’t like him regardless of the name “Hussein”.
Republicans also complained about Obama eating dijon mustard and wearing a tan suit. This is because the Republican party actually agreed with his policies for the most part. Obama called himself an 80s-era Republican around the middle of his tenure.
To be fair, there was a lot of fluidity between Democrats and Republicans in the early eighties. We were still used to Democrats being racist, and the new Southern Strategy suit was still freshly donned by the GOP and being adjusted for fit. Reagan was definitely racist, but it was coached in dog whistles that the present-day SCOTUS would not understand, like welfare queen or urban crime. And according to the How Money Works on Reagan, he had bipartisan support for a lot of his policies that turned the economy K-shaped.
The Southern Strategy transition was complete by Clinton, and his policies were pretty Republican as well. By that time, corporate lobbyists dominated federal politics, and were already not just asking for legislature, but actually submitting clauses pre-written in service of the companies who hired them.
By the time of George W. Bush, politics moved so far right that even progressive Democrats were more right than Eisenhower-era Republicans. Both parties had been completely captured by commercial interests.

Looking at the Wikipedia list of stage names, it seems like most of them change their names not to hide racial origins (though there is plenty of that) but to simplify names that are complex or hard to pronounce.

Anyway, the Democratic party is supposed to be a big-tent party and not care about race or ethnicity in their candidates. Some do, including Superdelegates, which is how we ended up with Joe Biden in 2020, who was the most right-wing candidate except for billionaire Michael Bloomberg (who is essentially a Republican).
